How do I explain the AI Revolution to my Children?

How Do I Explain the AI Revolution to My Children? Artificial intelligence is developing so quickly that most struggle to understand what it may mean for our work, our institutions and our lives, and what it means for future of our children?
When explaining something difficult, analogy is often the best approach.

And the analogy I increasingly use is the world of Harry Potter.
AI is beginning to look almost like magic.

Not because it breaks the laws of nature, but because it allows people to do things that, until very recently, would have appeared impossible. A single person can suddenly write software, analyse enormous amounts of information, create images, produce videos, study unfamiliar subjects and build entire businesses with capabilities that once required large teams.

But, just as in the Harry Potter world, not everyone will be able to use this magic.
Society may divide into two broad groups.

There will be the wizards and witches: people, companies and institutions that truly learn how to work with AI. They will not merely ask a chatbot a few simple questions. They will understand how to combine models, agents, data, tools and human judgement. They will use AI to multiply their intelligence, creativity and productivity.
And then there will be the muggles.

They may have access to the same technology, but they will use only a small fraction of its power. Some will reject it. Some will fear it. Others will remain satisfied with superficial uses, without understanding what is happening beneath the surface.

The difference will not necessarily be intelligence, education or wealth.
The difference will be the willingness to learn. In the AI revolution, magic will be available to almost everyone.
But only some will learn how to use it.
